StartX 2011 - Present

Director of PR

Charged with PR strategy, execution, and education for StartX.

StartX is the Stanford student startup accelerator. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley and adjacent to the university, our mission is to help the best Stanford-affiliated entrepreneurs reach their potential as business leaders and innovators. The accelerator is a non-profit entity that does not take equity from founding teams.

- Create high level strategy and drive execution of StartX’s PR plan in support of the accelerator and 40+ portfolio companies. Began as a PR consultant for a StartX company. Advanced to current role, encompassing media, community, social media, and university outreach.
- Lead PR initiatives for StartX media and investor events. At Demo Day 2/12, invited press produced 12+ articles across a variety of outlets: CNET, IEEE Spectrum, MedCityNews, Patch, TechCrunch, Business Insider, 
KZSU FM, Xconomy, Health 2.0, SF Chronicle, GigaOm, etc.
Expand and strengthen media relationships leading to top tier placements: NBC, San Jose Mercury News, Business Insider, Stanford Daily, Patch, ABC, VentureBeat, Wired, Fast Company, San Jose Business Journal, Guardian, and Nikkei.
- Establish and grow media database of 350+ contacts over multiple verticals: technology, healthtech, education, science, and cleantech.
